Scottish Open Championships – April 2015

 

Two championship titles were won by the Brunton Schools of Karate at Edinburgh’s Meadowbank Stadium by Belfast international fighting ace, James Brunton.

Brunton took the titles in the men’s open weight and senior events following an intense passage through the preliminary rounds against some of the best karate athletes from mainland Europe and the British Isles.

Drawing from his portfolio of winning techniques, Brunton reached the finals of his weight category where he pulled out all the stops to secure his first championship title.

 

The highlight of the competition was the senior men’s open event where the title winners from the respective weight categories had the chance to take on each other for the ultimate crown.

 

Brunton impressed karate fans gathered at Meadowbank on is way to the open final, where his expertise on the mat sealed his second championship title of the day.

 

Elsewhere in the competition, Lisburn’s Craig Ryan won bronze in the junior male under 67kg category, and Martin Bellod won a bronze medal in the senior male under 76kg event.
